How old is the US Capitol?

I can't answer that exactly, but it's interesting that the US borrowed a Frenchman to design the architecture and layout. The funny thing is someone ticked him off and he took all the plans, blueprints etc. and went home. The American engineer whom was helping him had memorized the plans, and we used his knowledge to complete it.
